We believe our success is determined by the success of our customers new and familiar, by the recognition of opportunities obvious and uncertain and by the real value generated by informed and accessible people. We deliver more.

The PD Story

Since our founding in 2014, Power Distributors has undergone a remarkable evolution. Grounded in a corporate heritage that stretches back to 1904, PD was formed through the integration of six of the best independent regional distributors in the United States. While all the collective heritage is impressive the real value lies in the result of combination; PD’s evolution into an industry leader, a national organization with the scope and the scale to offer new solutions, deliver more value and present better opportunities.

Commitment to innovation, technology and continuous improvement is the standard in our company. There is genuine passion in everything we do, and our pledge of achieving the highest levels of service carves out our special place in the market. In today’s world, a company stands alone when it can make the connection between decades-old traditions and the modern marketplace... and do it with purpose and real passion. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but it’s just the beginning of a great story for PD, our people, our customers and our partners.

A Shared Legacy

Connected by a decades-long affiliation as Briggs and Stratton Central Service Distributors, the companies that came together to form Power Distributors share a common culture defined by a measured focus on service metrics, a passion for the practical innovations that enable fast and reliable service, and an emphasis on the skilled and engaged people that bring it all together.

With roots that date back to 1904, Atlantic Power has a long history and established reputation in distribution. The combination of the two companies would form the foundation of Power Distributors.

From warehouses in Ohio and Florida, CPS independently served equipment dealers and retailers across the Midwestern United States and Florida until merging with Atlantic Power in December of 2012. Midwest Engine Warehouse (MWE), a division of Illinois Auto Electric Co. (IAE) was founded in 1915. As an authorized central sales and service distributor for Briggs and Stratton service parts and engines, Oregon Cutting Systems, and other quality OPE industry products Midwest Engine Warehouse supplied service professionals in the Heartland, Rocky Mountain, and Pacific regions of the United States from locations in Illinois, Kansas, Utah, and California. The company was brought into the Power Distributors group in March of 2016.

From a legacy that began in 1927, Preferred Power would grow to meet the distribution needs of many of the OPE industry’s leading manufacturers. Representing Briggs and Stratton engines and service parts and a complete offering of affiliated products, PPI independently provided order fulfillment, sales, customer service and technical support to power equipment dealers and retailers across the Mid-Atlantic and South-Atlantic regions of the United States until merging with the Power Distributors group in July of 2014.
